Member-only story
At times I write poem letters to friends from a word. This one is from the word “Voice” to my good friend Dr. Shivani Mehta, who is an amazing pediatrician, community leader and friend!
I wanted to share this one especially in light of Women’s History Month…Shivani is someone making history every single day!
Dear Shivani,
I am watching you grow sooo much and especially over the past six months. Your gifts and talents are invaluable to the community, and you continue to be a voice for so many who have been silenced.
I know people have tried to quiet you, or maybe had you believe you should take a “backseat.” But what you have to say is way too important. You deserve to express your heart, purpose and wonderful strategic mind in a way that feeds your soul.
I wanted to encourage you to keep sharing what matters most to you. When you do this, it amplifies what needs to be said from so many. You are truly a catalyst. In fact, the more you speak from the heart, the more human our world becomes.
The way you use me is incredibly gentle and full of kindness. Please keep me “loud” and audible when your heart calls for it. Let me drown out the noise of anyone who doesn’t understand you.
I will always be here, ready for you to use when your beautiful gift of seeing is activated. Sometimes it is also your actions that speak and “say” what you are all about.
Shivani, I am so proud of you and what you are creating in the world. Keep going!
Your partner,
Voice
